The Kogatende region is a hotspot for the Great Migration from July to October, especially the thrilling river crossings. Watch for elephants, giraffes, and big cats en route. Day 2: Full Day – Mara River Crossing Game Drive
Today is dedicated entirely to tracking wildebeest along the Mara River. Begin with an early morning game drive, heading to likely crossing points. Patience is key as you await the thunderous movement of thousands of wildebeest and zebras braving the crocodile-infested waters.
Crossings are unpredictable and dramatic, often accompanied by chaos and predator attacks. Your guide will position the vehicle strategically for the best view without disturbing nature. Enjoy a bush breakfast or picnic lunch in the wild, and continue game drives into the afternoon. End the day with a relaxed evening at camp, exchanging stories with fellow guests around the fire.

Day 3: Mara River & Surrounding Plains – Balloon Safari & Game Drives
Begin your day with a breathtaking hot air balloon safari at dawn, floating silently above the Serengeti as the sun rises over the Mara River. This unforgettable experience offers a bird’s-eye view of the sprawling plains, herds of wildebeest, and possibly even predators on the move. After landing, enjoy a champagne bush breakfast in the wild.
Return to camp for a short rest before heading out on a mid-morning game drive along the riverbanks. Explore quieter areas with your guide, tracking lions, elephants, and scavengers. After lunch and some downtime, venture out again for an afternoon drive. Return to camp for dinner and a relaxed evening, or opt for a night game drive if available.

Day 4: Final Game Drive – Fly Kogatende to Zanzibar
Enjoy an early morning game drive to soak in your last moments of the Serengeti wilderness. Depending on wildlife activity, your guide will prioritize any remaining crossing potential or rare sightings. Return to camp for a quick breakfast and prepare for your flight back to Zanzibar, typically departing midday or early afternoon from Kogatende Airstrip.
During your flight, reflect on the unforgettable spectacle of the migration and Mara River drama. Upon landing in Zanzibar, transfer to your beach resort or hotel, where you can relax by the ocean, now with memories of one of nature’s greatest shows etched in your mind.
