Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – City Tour & Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

After lunch, depart on a scenic 2.5-hour drive to Musanze, the gateway to Volcanoes National Park. Along the way, enjoy views of terraced hills and traditional villages. Upon arrival, check into your comfortable lodge nestled in the foothills of the Virunga Volcanoes.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
After an early breakfast, head to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters for a briefing by park rangers. You’ll be assigned a gorilla family and trekking team, then set off into the misty forest with your expert guide. Trekking time can range from 1 to 6 hours depending on the gorilla group’s location.
Once located, you’ll spend a magical one hour in the company of the endangered mountain gorillas observing their interactions, expressions, and family dynamics up close. It’s an awe-inspiring encounter you’ll never forget. Return to the lodge for lunch and a well-earned rest.
The afternoon is yours to relax, perhaps enjoy a massage or sit by the fire, reflecting on this life-changing moment in the wild.

Day 3: Cultural or Nature Activity + Return to Kigali
This morning, choose between two rewarding experiences. Visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, where former poachers and local residents offer a powerful insight into traditional Rwandan life through dance, song, storytelling, and hands-on activities. Or, if you prefer nature, enjoy a serene guided walk around the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo, with stunning views of the volcanoes and local fishermen at work.
After your activity, return to Musanze for lunch and begin your drive back to Kigali. Upon arrival, you may have time to browse local markets or visit a café before checking into your hotel for a relaxed evening. This day blends culture, scenery, and reflection a perfect transition after the thrill of gorilla trekking.

Day 4: Departure
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast at your hotel before your scheduled transfer to Kigali International Airport. If time allows, you may opt for a final stroll around your lodge’s gardens or a quick visit to a local craft shop for last-minute souvenirs. Your driver will ensure a smooth drop-off at the airport, ready for your onward journey.
