Day 1: Arrival in Kilimanjaro – Overnight in Moshi

Welcome to Tanzania! Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you’ll be met by your guide and transferred to your lodge or hotel in Moshi, a charming town nestled at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro. Depending on your arrival time, you can relax at the hotel, explore the local markets, or enjoy views of the mountain on a clear day.

Moshi is a perfect starting point for your adventure, offering a laid-back atmosphere and friendly hospitality. Enjoy dinner at the lodge and get a good night’s rest as you prepare for the journey through Tanzania’s mountains, culture, and wildlife.

After breakfast, embark on a scenic day trip to Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak. While not a summit trek, today’s adventure takes you through the lush foothills and rainforest zone, offering beautiful views, fresh mountain air, and chances to spot colobus monkeys and exotic birds.

Hike to Materuni Waterfalls or Marangu Gate, one of the main climbing routes. Enjoy a local Chagga village visit, where you’ll learn about traditional life and participate in a coffee-making tour. Savor a delicious local lunch before heading back to Moshi. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight, reflecting on your incredible Kilimanjaro experience.

After an early breakfast, depart Moshi and enjoy a scenic drive to Mkomazi National Park, located in northern Tanzania near the Kenyan border. Arrive in time for an afternoon game drive, exploring the park’s vast savannahs and acacia woodlands.

Mkomazi is known for its rare species, including fringeeared oryx, gerenuk, and the endangered black rhino, protected within a special sanctuary. You may also spot elephants, zebras, giraffes, and various bird species. Enjoy the peaceful, off-the-beaten-path feel of this hidden gem. Later, check in to your safari lodge or tented camp for dinner and a restful night under the stars.

After breakfast, depart from Lushoto and drive towards Saadani National Park, a unique reserve that borders the Indian Ocean, offering a rare combination of beach and wildlife experiences. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge, which offers stunning views of the coast.

After a relaxing lunch, spend the afternoon exploring the park’s diverse habitats—mangrove forests, wetlands, and savannahs—where you’ll encounter a variety of wildlife, including elephants, giraffes, and lions. In the evening, unwind on the beach, watching the sunset over the ocean.

Saadani offers a peaceful, less crowded experience compared to other Tanzanian parks, making it an ideal destination to connect with nature while enjoying the serene coastal surroundings. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

After breakfast, enjoy a final walk along the beach or relax at your lodge before beginning your journey back to Dar es Salaam. Depending on your travel preferences, you’ll either drive or take a short flight. Upon arrival in Dar es Salaam, you’ll be assisted with your international flight departure or connected to a domestic flight to Zanzibar.
