Serengeti National Park
Overview
The Serengeti National Park is one of the most celebrated wildlife destinations in the world, located in northern Tanzania. Spanning over 14,700 square kilometers, it is renowned for its vast open plains, dramatic landscapes, and exceptional biodiversity. The Park is most famous for hosting the Great Migration, where over 1.5 million wildebeest, along with hundreds of thousands of zebras and gazelles, move in a continuous cycle in search of fresh grazing, followed closely by predators like lions, cheetahs, and hyenas.
The Serengeti offers year-round game viewing, with opportunities to spot the Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhinoceros—along with over 500 bird species. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and part of the larger Serengeti ecosystem, which extends into Kenya’s Maasai Mara. Game drives
Game drives are the most popular, especially during the Great Migration, where over 1.5 million wildebeest and zebras move across the plains. In Ndutu (December–March), visitors witness the calving season, when thousands of newborns attract predators.
From May to July, the herds cross the Grumeti River, facing crocodile-infested waters. Later, in July to September, the dramatic Mara River crossings in the northern Serengeti offer some of the most iconic wildlife scenes.
Walking safaris
Walking safaris provide a thrilling, guided exploration of the bush on foot, focusing on smaller details of the ecosystem.
Balloon safaris
Balloon safaris offer breathtaking aerial views of the Serengeti at sunrise, often flying over migrating herds or vast, predator-filled plains.
