Nyerere National Park
Overview
Formerly part of the Selous Game Reserve, is the largest national park in Tanzania and one of the most untouched safari destinations in Africa. Located in the Southern Circuit, the park spans vast landscapes of rivers, lakes, savannah, and woodlands, offering a raw and authentic African wilderness experience.
A Game Drive in Nyerere is unforgettable, with excellent chances to see elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, and the rare African wild dog. With fewer crowds, wildlife encounters feel exclusive and thrilling.
For a more immersive adventure, a Walking Safari allows you to step into the wild on foot, guided by experienced rangers. It’s a chance to track animals, learn about the ecosystem, and experience the bush up close in a way a vehicle can’t offer.
One of Nyerere’s unique highlights is a Canoe Safari on the Rufiji River, where you can glide past hippos, crocodiles, and birds while enjoying stunning views of the water and sunset. It’s a peaceful yet exhilarating way to explore this vast wilderness.
